KayaCalendar gives general information based on the Public Holidays Act 36 of 1994, presidential declarations of special public holidays published on gov.za, and the public school calendars gazetted by the Minister of Basic Education. It is not legal advice and is not a government website. The President can declare extra public holidays, and provinces, schools and employers may set their own arrangements, so check important dates with the official source.

KayaCalendar is not a government website and is not connected to the Presidency, the Department of Basic Education or the Department of Employment and Labour. Using the site does not create a professional relationship.

Accuracy

We take our dates from the Public Holidays Act, gov.za and the Government Gazette and test our calculations, but extra holidays can be declared and calendars can be amended. Leave ideas and working day counts assume the work week you choose and do not know your contract, bargaining council agreement or shift pattern.
